About this policy
WatchMuse is independent software for Mac, iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch. This policy covers the App and the developer-operated Qwen service. Third-party providers and custom servers have their own privacy practices. Mac does not include Mood, weather or their associated health and location features.
WatchMuse is not affiliated with Apple or any listed AI provider.
Information the app handles
- Conversation content: prompts, AI responses, and images you intentionally attach to a request.
- Provider settings: your selected provider, model, custom server address, and related preferences.
- Credentials: API keys you enter are stored using the device Keychain and are used to contact the selected provider.
- Local content: conversations, appearance choices, custom backgrounds, face images, language, and notification preferences may be stored on your devices or in the app’s shared container.
WatchMuse does not require your name, phone number, mailing address, or a WatchMuse account.
AI providers and custom servers
When you choose cloud AI, WatchMuse sends the inputs and context required for that request to the selected provider or custom server. This does not describe on-device inference or the separate connection to your own Mac, explained below.
If you select OpenAI, Gemini, DeepSeek, Claude, Perplexity Sonar, or a custom server, that service receives and processes the content needed to return an answer. Its own terms, retention rules, and privacy policy apply. The developer of WatchMuse cannot retrieve or delete information held by an independently operated provider.
If you select OpenRouter, your request passes through OpenRouter to a provider serving the selected model. The processing provider may be chosen automatically by OpenRouter’s routing. OpenRouter’s policy and the processing provider’s own data policies apply. Review the OpenRouter Privacy Policy and its provider data-policy guidance before sharing content.
If you select Qwen AI, the request is sent to the WatchMuse service endpoint and processed to generate the response. Hosting infrastructure may also process technical connection information required to deliver and secure the service.
Keep sensitive information out of AI requests.
Do not send passwords, payment details, government identification numbers, medical records, private API keys, or other highly sensitive information to any AI provider.
Local AI, your Mac and iCloud
On-device inference runs a downloaded, supported model on that device. Model downloads need internet. This does not make the whole App offline: cloud providers, built-in Qwen, downloads and optional iCloud sync use network services.
With Mac local AI, the current text request and context prepared by chat settings travel over authenticated TCP/TLS to your paired Mac, which generates and returns the answer. Apple Watch forwards through its paired iPhone. Model files stay on Mac. This route has no automatic cloud AI fallback.
The Mac pairing secret is stored in device-only Keychain storage. Mac provider API keys are also stored in Keychain, separately from the chat archive. Pairing information contains the address, port and secret. It is not an iCloud sharing code. Turn off device access on Mac to stop incoming connections, or forget the paired Mac on the client to remove that pairing.
Optional Mac iCloud chat sync stores the shared chat archive in the user’s private CloudKit database, including saved messages and any saved attachments, quotes and extracted document text. It does not include model files, provider API keys or Mac pairing secrets. Other devices need compatible chat backup enabled. Turning off sync stops subsequent sync, not deletion of existing cloud records.
On Mac, imported images, captured images you choose to attach and extracted document text can become part of a saved conversation. They are sent to a cloud provider only when included in a request to that provider. The Mac device connection described here remains text-only.
Delete conversations and downloaded models using the App’s controls where available. Quitting or removing the Mac App does not necessarily delete its support files, Keychain entries, iCloud archive or provider-side records. The existing Qwen 30-day retention disclosure still applies to that online service.
Mac and connection details checked on October 4, 2026. Mac beta availability is still unconfirmed; other feature-specific sections retain their stated scope.
Location and weather
If you enable Current Location, WatchMuse uses location data to identify an area and retrieve weather information. Weather data may be requested through Apple Weather and, when necessary, Open-Meteo. Map information may be used to derive a readable city or region name.
If you enable AI-generated weather words, weather context and location-derived information may be sent to the AI provider selected for Weather. The app asks for the relevant setting or consent before sending weather information to a custom or AI server.
You can deny location access or use a manually entered city instead.
HRV, sleep, mood, and wellness features
With your permission, WatchMuse can read heart rate variability (HRV) samples and sleep analysis from HealthKit. It does not write Health data.
HRV values are used on device to estimate a three-stage wellness trend. This feature is not a medical measurement or diagnosis. When AI comfort messages are enabled, the app sends only a derived stage and selected language or style preferences—not the numerical HRV value—to the Mood provider. Sleep protection is checked on device to pause eligible reminders while you appear to be asleep.
Health data is not used for advertising. You can disable these features and manage Health permissions in system settings.
Photos and custom images
The App uses images you select or explicitly attach. Mac can also import files and capture images you choose to use. Saved images may be kept with conversations or supported appearance features. Whether an AI request includes an image depends on your selection and the chosen model; Mac device access is text-only.
Notifications and background activity
On supported mobile and Watch versions, optional notifications and background features follow the permissions and limits of that operating system. These descriptions do not add Mood or weather to Mac.
Retention and deletion
Qwen service: 30-day retention
The Qwen service operated by the developer stores your questions, generated answers, IP addresses and error logs for 30 days.
This retention period applies to that Qwen service, not to other AI providers or your own server. Deleting a chat on your device does not delete its server-side record. For questions about server-side data, contact the developer. [email protected]
Qwen retention information updated
Saved conversations and preferences are kept locally. Use the App’s conversation controls to remove local chats. Local deletion does not by itself remove existing iCloud backups or records held by AI providers.
Information transmitted to an AI provider may be retained by that provider according to its policy. Contact the relevant provider or custom server operator for server-side access or deletion requests.
Tracking, advertising, and disclosure
WatchMuse does not use third-party advertising SDKs and does not sell personal information. The app does not intentionally track you across unrelated apps or websites.
On this website, a first-party cookie remembers your language for up to 180 days. It contains only a language code, not an account or tracking ID. Your browser may cache public pages, images and code to reduce downloads. These caches do not contain your App conversations or API keys. Clearing this site's cookies resets your language preference; clearing its cache removes saved website files. Your browser may clear either sooner. If cookies are blocked, language links still work, but your choice may not be remembered.
Information may be disclosed when required by law, to protect the security and integrity of the service, or with your direction—for example, when you use the system share sheet.
Security and your choices
Use HTTPS custom server addresses, protect your API keys, and connect only to services you trust. No internet transmission or storage method can be guaranteed completely secure.
You can change providers, remove credentials, delete chats, disable notifications, turn off AI weather or mood features, and revoke Location, Photos, or Health access at any time.
Questions and updates
This policy may change when WatchMuse’s features, providers, or legal obligations change. The date at the top identifies the latest version.
